The first Charvel Japanese made imports were delivered in 1986. In all likelyhood there were less than 200 units total including Model 2s, Models 3s, and Model 4s manufactured as limited editions. Charvel guitars started to be mass produced in Japan bearing the Fort Worth Texas neck plate.

These limited edition Charvel Model Series guitars with a factory painted black neck were delivered to dealers by Jackson Charvel that were favored by the factory in 1986. The Charvel Model 5 is one of the top line guitars of the Charvel Model series. Ferrari red is more common then the black is. The bullseye graphic is a vinyl decal and looks like it was applied by an expert and has lasted for a long while. Its is a rare guitar,only made it two years 86/87 and the 86’s were considered prototypes. The very first Charvel imports have become legendary due to their build quality vs. That line of guitars was terminated by late 1988. The Japanese Chushin Gakki factory had been licensed to produce Charvel guitars in 1985 and started shipping the first imports, the Charvel Model Series around mid 1986.
